A plan is underway to hold the election in six village-tracts in Moemauk Township in Kachin State that were not included because of insecurity and conflict during the 2015 General Election according to Moemauk Township Election Sub-Commission.

The village-tracts that were missed in 2015 because of lack of stability are: Theinlone, Utanyan, Manpein, Panmu, Kyayidagaw and Seinlon.

Daw Theint Theint Tun, the officer of the Moemauk Township Election Sub-Commission said: “Now the region has administrative bodies and ward/village election sub-commission. So we plan to open the polling booths.”

U Tun Kyi, Administrator of Manpain village-tract said “We had to cast our votes in the 2010 General Election. After that, we had no chance to cast our ballots. Manpain village-tract has four villages. There are 509 eligible voters. Most people in the villages are Shan-ni ethnics.”

In the 2015 General Election, there were 39 polling stations and around 50,000 voters in Moemauk Township
