Arrests in Paletwa Township in Chin State prompted by explosions

After a series of explosions in Paletwa Township Chin State, security forces took U Sani Aung, Chair of Khumee Literature and Culture Committee from his home in Paletwa Township in Chin State on May 29th and detained over 17 Chin youth.

The reason for the arrest of U Sani Aung is not known.

The Khumee media covered the news, quoting a local that his detention was based on a suspected link to support for the CDM staff. He has now been released.

10 years ago, he retired as a head of Basic Education High School.

Currently, he is serving as a chair of the Khumee Literature and Culture Committee.

The army has so far detained a total of 17 Chin youth in Paletwa Township. Now seven of 17 detainees have been released.

The police released KoAike Min, Daw Oh Mar and Ko Hla Myint Htay on May 29th and Ko David, Ko Chan Mo, Ko Lai Pan and Ko Thiha Aung on May 30th.
