Chin National Front (CNF) rejected the army’s demand to return police members who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) because they had already fled to India.

 

On March 10th, the Commander of the Northwest Command held a meeting with some leaders of the CNF in Hakha Township in Chin State.

 

At the meeting, the CNF called on the army to release the detainees and to avoid the disruption of the peaceful protestors. The army also called on the CNF to transfer the policemen who joined CDM. The CNF said the CDM police members were not present at the CNF camp and fled to India.

 

Salai Htet Ni, Spokesperson of the CNF said: “They (army) came to our headquarters in Htantalan Township. The army demanded the handover of CDM police members. The CNF replied that there were no CDM police members here. The CNF warned the army not to come to the camp again.”

 

After the CNF and the government signed the ceasefire agreement, the army was not supposed to visit the CNF camp without prior notice. This is the army’s first visit to the CNF camp since the military coup.
