The army abducted six youth from Ngwepyaw model village at the foot of Inkhaingbwan Mountain in the north of Myitkyina Township in Kachin State on the evening of April 17, according to an eye witness.

A local said: “An old lady is crying, saying that her son has been abducted.” Masked soldiers took some young men away in two army vehicles. Locals are worried. They assume the army will use the youth as porters.

Ngwepyaw model village was established with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in 2013. It has more than 400 houses. It is one of the PaLaNa villages in Myitkyina. The army's battalion-29 is deployed at the model village.
