Aerial strikes force more than 200 locals to flee in Hpakant

More than 200 locals have fled to the safer places after military helicopters attacked some villages in Hpakant Township in Kachin State.

The Kachin Independence Organization/Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) attacked a police battalion located between Kahtan village and Tawhmaw village in Lonekhin village-tract at around 2 am on March 28th.

The army carried out random attacks without discrimination on the villages with two helicopters.

The locals are taking shelter at their relative houses and churches.

Those IDPs are from Swataung, Phawar, Tawhmaw and Kahtan villages and the old dumpsite of Shining Star Company.

 

The doctors who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) give health care to the IDPs in Hpakant Township.

Two anti-coup protestors were killed in Hpakant Township on March 14th and 27th. 

At around 3 pm on March 28th, the KIA attacked Phawar police battalion.

The KIA started carrying out attacks on the army since March 11.
