There are around 30 cases filed under the election law at the respective township police stations in Shan State, said U Zaw Myint Win, Secretary of the Shan State Election Sub-Commission.

U Zaw Myint Win explained “Most of the cases are weak points of polling station officers who filed in form-16 (election result form). Parties filed cases based on the township sub-commission made corrections to the form-16, in which the polling station officers mistakenly filled in the remark column. The election sub-commission is investigating two cases—the complaint lodged by a political party about the correction to an incorrect filling of the form-16 by the secretary of election sub-commission in Mongphyat Township in Tachilek District in Shan State (East) and the case filed under Section 57/59 (a) of the Election Law at Mongpyin Township police station in Kengtung District.

The sub-commission is scrutinizing the complaints filed by political parties and the solving by the relevant polling station officers and secretaries of township election sub-commission, U Zaw Myint Win added.

According to the statement issued by the Shan State Police, there have been 17 cases filed under the Election Law—four reported before the election, two during the election and 11 after the election. The remaining cases have nothing to do with the elections.
