Mawlamyine University has dismissed 155 faculty members including professors, associate professors, lecturers, assistant lecturers and the librarian who all joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) on May 21st.

A female faculty member who faces dismissal said: “I will not submit the complaint letter. I have decided to back the CDM till the end.”

On May 22nd, Mawlamyine Technological University dismissed 47 teaching staff for joining the CDM.

The basic Education Department has temporarily suspended more than 3,000 teachers in ten townships in Mon State.
