Kayah State Consumer Affairs Department has dismissed 11 staff who joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM).
The Head of the Kayah State Consumers Affairs Department dismissed them according to the Civil Service Personnel Rules.
The anti-coup protests have continued since the Feb 1 coup. Many civil servants have joined the protest against the coup, joining the CDM.
One of the dismissed staff said: “I have no plan to work under the military council until the civilian government comes to power and to then submit my appeal. We joined the CDM as we are opposed to the coup. I will return to work only when the civilian government comes to power.”
The department sent the dismissal letter to the CDM staff on May 3rd. The dismissed staff can submit the appeal letter within six months according to Section 220 of the Civil Service Personnel Rules if they are not satisfied with the order.
The department has 25 staff including daily wage earners in total. On February 8th, 13 staff including daily wage earners joined the CDM.
A dismissed staff said: “The major difficulty is the financial problem. We are not included in the list of CDM staff who get cash assistance, as the people don’t know about the staff from this department. All CDM staff have financial difficulties.”
