Aik Sai — Four candidates from local ethnic Mon parties scored victories in Mon State. However, there were only three parties that contested the elections: the Mon National Party (MNP); the All Mon Region Democracy Party (AMRDP); and the Women’s Party (Mon). Out of these, three MNP candidates and one AMRDP won.
The MNP candidates that won were: Dr. Min Kyi Win, Mudon Township State Parliament Constituency 2; U Naing Thiha, Ye Township Upper House Constituency 2; and Dr. Min Soe Linn, State Parliament Constituency 1.
An official from Ye Township Election Sub-Commission office confirmed this information, and that election results have been sent to the Union Election Commission.
MNP ran for a total of 53 seats in Mon State: 13 seats in the Lower House; 12 seats in Upper House; 27 seats in the State Parliament; and one seat for Ethnic Affairs Minister.
The Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission office confirmed the AMRDP winner was Dr. Aung Naing Oo who took Chaungzon Township State Parliament 1.
AMRDP contested 35 seats in Mon State: 8 seats in the Lower House; 10 seats in the Upper House; 16 seats in the State Parliament; and one seat for Ethnic Affairs Minister.
In comparison, the National League for Democracy swept the state by a large margin.
