Aik Sai — Over 300 people have cast advanced votes in Mon State’s Chaungzon, according to Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission office. Eligible voters have been allowed to give advanced votes since Oct. 29.
“We only have the list of advanced voters from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4. A total of 338 people have taking part in advanced voting. We are still collecting the remaining list from the ward and village sub-commissions,” said U Tun Yi, chairman of Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission office.
Among two state constituencies in Chaungzon Township, 108 people have given advanced votes in Constituency No 1. So far 233 people voted in Constituency No 2.
Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission office said advanced voters were military personnel; hospital staffs that need to travel to attend midwives classes; heads of governmental departments; voters living abroad and migrant ethnic Bamar residents.
Chaungzon Township has 43 village tracts and 3 large wards; 6 polling stations will be opened on Election Day. Currently, Chaungzon Township has 123, 788 eligible voters not including migrant resident voters. Seven-hundred and nineteen migrant residents have been allowed to vote after submitting the Form 3A by the Oct. 10 deadline.
The form was designed to assist migrant workers not included on the voting list by allowing anyone that has lived in their ward for more than 180 days to vote if they obtain a letter of reference from their ward official.
