Chit Min Tun — Over 700 migrant workers residing in Mon State’s Chaungzon Township have been added to the voter list, according to the Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission’s office.

Migrant workers living in Chaungzon Township who submitted their 3A applications before October 10th are allowed to vote in polling stations in the township. They are able to vote if they can prove they have lived in the township for at least 180 days.

“A total of 719 people have given me their 3A application forms. All of them will be allowed to vote in the upcoming election. According to the last voter list released in September, there are over 120,000 eligible voters in the entire Chaungzon Township,” explained U Myo Min Thu, Secretary of the Chaungzon Township Election Sub-Commission’s office.

Temporary residents who have been living at least 180 days outside their original areas must submit an application form 3A to the ward and village sub-commission offices in their respective areas before October 10th in order to have been included on the voting list.

The updated voter list for temporary residents will be announced in the ward/village offices in Mudon Township from November 2 to 5.

According to the latest voter list released by the Union Election Commission between September 14 to 27, Chaungzon Township has 123,788 eligible voters and a total of 124,507 people will be able to vote after the temporary residents are added to the list.

According to the Chaungzon Township Election Sub-commission’s office Chaungzon Township will have 62 polling stations open on voting day.
