While the third 21st Century Panglong Conference is being held in Naypyitaw, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) which has signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) reportedly clashed with the Tatmadaw (Myanmar military).
RCSS clashed with Tatmadaw near Ham Ngai village, Mong Kung Township, southern Shan State on July 10 from 11 a.m. to about 1 p.m.
Lt. Col. Sai Oo from RCSS said that over 500 villagers in the area had to flee from their homes in Ham Ngai and were taking refuge at nearby monasteries.
Lt. Col. Sai Ngin said in January that RCSS/SSA had about 20 skirmishes with Tatmadaw over a one-year period after signing NCA.
RCSS/SSA signed the NCA on October 15, 2015 along with seven other ethnic armed groups.
