The mother of two police brothers in Kyan Khinn, who were sentenced to one year in prison on February 2 because of protesting against the military dictatorship, has reportedly asked to repay Covid loans from the military junta.
Thant Sin said that two policemen (in charge) came to their house and asked his wife to sign a statement saying she knew her two sons (policemen) had taken out a Covid loan of 602,000 kyats when they were on duty.
U Thant Zin said, "My wife was asked to come and sign that she knew her sons had borrowed money. When she refuses to sign that statement, the police officer-in-charge told her to meet him. When she met him, she was told to repay the money. My wife says she cannot pay and came back home. And then, we consulted with people I knew. We went back and told the police officer that I would return the money lest the two sons would be prosecuted again."
