PNLA Accuses Junta of Gas Attack

The Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) announced on March 8th that some of its members were undergoing medical treatment, after the Junta deployed drones to drop chemical gas bombs in Hsihseng Township, southern Shan State.

A PNLA spokesperson informed Kantarawaddy Times that eight PNLA fighters required medical attention for symptoms including: dizziness, skin irritation, and mental instability stemming from toxic effects of drone chemical attack.

All the comrades affected by the poison gas exhibited similar symptoms including dizziness, skin irritation, and severe mood swings, alongside decreased oxygen levels. They continue to undergo medical treatment”, he said.

PNLA has also alleged that the Junta unilaterally dropped the chemical gas bombs outside of any combat situations during that time. The PNLA spokesperson added that Junta troops are perpetrating war crimes, while disguised in Pa-O national costumes.

he told Kantarawaddy Times, "It is unheard of for armed forces to don national costumes during warfare. However, the Junta and its affiliates are now wearing Pa-O national attires while launching attacks on the Pa-O region, engaging in terror acts that constitute war crimes”,

According to PNLA’s statement, on March 7th, the Junta launched indiscriminate attacks on Hsihseng using artillery and drones, resulting in the destruction of at least six houses.

Even on days without active battles, the Junta troops regularly target Hsihseng and Hopong townships, both within the Pa'O Self-Administered Zone, using drones and artillery, leading to the destruction of religious structures too.
