An unknown armed group has abducted more than 30 youths from Longkhin village in Hpakant township.
According to a man from Longkhin village who spoke to KNG, on March 6 around 6:00 p.m., individuals in civilian clothing arrived in private cars and suddenly abducted over 30 young people from the Longkhin neighborhood.
"As far as we know, approximately 30 individuals, all of them young men, were arrested from market stalls. The group responsible for the arrests is unclear as they were dressed in civilian clothing and used Pajero and Land Cruiser cars. It is difficult to confirm because they were in civilian clothes," he said.
Their raids focused primarily on residences and grocery stores, with only young men between the ages of 20 and 30 being taken among the group of over 30 arrests made.
"I heard the news. I don't know which group arrested them. Among the ones I know are 2 from Yaung Chi Oo grocery store, one from the New Light motorcycle store, and one from the Min Seik Kyaik tire store. I don't know the rest," said a woman from Longkhin village.
The armed group arrived in private cars, dispersing the people before suddenly entering and making the arrests simultaneously.
There has been an increase in civilian arrests in Hpakant Township this year, with the majority of them being carried out by the Military Council. However, residents report a lack of information regarding the specific group responsible for the recent arrests.
