About 1000 people displaced from 8 villages expect to have shelter camp assistance as the monsoon season is approaching while they are temporary in War Daung village camp, the Camp Management Leaders told Narinjara News.
One of the camp leaders U Maung Hla said that “ The land we are temporary sheltering now has Form no (7) registered land and we are not allowed to keep staying here anymore. We find it difficult to live here as the temporary tents are not strong for the wind and rain. We have already requested to the township level official for this. But, they said to wait. Now, it starts raining here. Everyone in the camp is in trouble. That’s why; we need a proper shelter camp”.
According to the government IDP camp construction plans, Thaungdara village and Ror Thit Kay village from Rathedaung township, A Htat Myatlae and Thar Si villages from Ponnagyut township, Tin Nyo and Hta Mar Rike villages from Mrauk Oo township, Mraung Nar and A Htet Kywee Cho Maw villages from Buthidaung township and Na Din village from Minbra are included while two areas from Kyauk Taw township are left in the government plan.
“We are from 8 Mro ethnic villages. We displaced here due to the fighting and we can’t go back and work in the land. We are facing land mine threatening there. Here, we do not have good living. Rainy season is coming in. We can’t schedule for growing paddy in the village. Sometimes it is flooded here. We should have shelter camp systematically”, Mro ethnic Daw Ma Hla Oo, said.
Although Narinjara tried to keep in contact to the State Municipal Minster who is spokesman from the Rakhine State Government, there was no response at all.
