Salai Cross Thang, Chinland’s Minister of Education stated that efforts are underway to establish the first Chin National University (CNU) capable of operating as an independent institution, with plans for its imminent opening.
"We are working to open CNU as soon as we can. It will be a university offering multiple majors. However for security reasons, we cannot disclose its exact location yet”, he said.
The university will welcome individuals who passed the matriculation exam before the coup, those who have not finished their university studies yet, and those who completed high school during the coup period.
At CNU, the focus will be on teaching subjects crucial for producing human resources essential in the development of Chin State (Chinland) and fostering Chin Nationalism.
"We extend an invitation to all university educators engaged in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) to join CNU. In Particular, we urge Chin ethnic academic staff to consider working at CNU”, the education minister said.
Nearly four months following the establishment of the Chinland Government led by the Chinland Council, the preliminary draft of CNU's charter has been finalized.
The Ministry of Education of the Government of Chinland organized a Higher Education workshop on May 23 and 24, where a preliminary draft of CNU's charter was formulated, aiming to facilitate ongoing university education for students in Chin State amidst the revolutionary period.
CNU's motto, "Enlightenment and Truth," reflects its core values of a passion for education, freedom, dedication to public service, and upholding human rights.
CNU will function with the backing of the Government of Chinland, operating independently and empowered to establish its own management protocols.
CNU will develop specialized programs tailored for CDM students who have completed higher education and are presently engaged in armed resistance, enabling them to pursue further university studies.
The aim is to establish CNU as an inclusive university accessible to all, contributing to societal development, encouraging research initiatives, fostering an educational environment marked by quality and freedom, and promoting lifelong learning
