Three Brotherhood Alliances Declare One-Month Truce for Earthquake Relief

The three brotherhood groups (AA/MNDAA/TNLA) declared a one-month unilateral ceasefire today, April 1, to facilitate relief efforts following the earthquake.

Statement from the Three Brotherhood Alliance Declaring a One Month Unilateral Humanitarian Break, Halting Offensive Actions in Ongoing Conflict Zones, to Facilitate Rapid and Efficient Post-Earthquake Rescue Operations, April 1, 2025.

Recently, on March 28, 29, and 30, 2025, a powerful earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, accompanied by aftershocks, hit, leading to extensive devastation in various regions of Myanmar, such as Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Shan State, Bago Region, and Naypyidaw.

The announcement stated, “To support the prompt and efficient execution of post-earthquake relief initiatives, the three brotherhood alliances will avoid offensive actions in regions experiencing conflict and will instead proclaim a one-month unilateral ceasefire.”

Moreover, we fervently wish that urgent humanitarian actions, which are critically necessary for the population affected by the earthquake, be implemented as quickly and efficiently as possible.

From the moment of the announcement, the alliances will refrain from offensive actions in regions where combat is occurring, unless it is for self-defense.

The duration of the unilateral ceasefire is recognized as being from April (1) to (30).
