Homes owned by National League for Democracy (NLD) MPs' in Chaungzon Township, Mon State, have been shuttered, according to locals.
The houses of former Pyithu Hluttaw member Daw Mi Cho Thae, and former Amyotha Hluttaw member, U Lin Tin Htay from Kwum The village in Chaungzon Township were closed up in the evening of February 21.
The former NLD MPs were detained by security forces on the grounds that they were linked to terrorist groups.
Daw Mi Cho Thae has been charged under Section 50 (j), 51 (c) and 52 (f) of the Anti-Terrorism Law by the State Administrative Council (SAC), and U Lin Tin Htay has been charged under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code and Section 50 (j) of the Anti-Terrorism Law.
Daw Mi Cho Thae won the Pyithu Hluttaw seat in Chaungzon Township in the 2020 general election, and Tin Lin Htay won the 2015 and 2020 elections.
In Mon State, as many as six former NLD MPs' homes have been shuttered due to alleged links to terrorist organizations, including two former Chaungzon MPs.
