The Restoration Council of Shan State has grand plans to convene a congress with all the state’s ethnic organizations, minorities and civil society groups in December and January, the chair told S.H.A.N.
The giant meet-up will be convened at the RCSS/Shan State Army’s Loi Tai Leng headquarters, he said.
“The RCSS plans to hold the Shan State Congress in December-January in order to unite all ethnic people living in the Shan State. We will invite all youth organizations and ethnic people from Shan State,” said General Yawd Serk.
The Committee for Shan State Unity (CSSU) will hold a meeting immediately after the congress, he added.
“The CSSU has been established not only for the Shan people. We will try to include everyone living in Shan State including the monks. We will invite representatives from all ethnic peoples including the Shan people and the Shan parties, and the TNLA [Ta’ang National Liberation Army],” he added.
The Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA) is one of the eight signatories of the nationwide ceasefire agreement.
Gen Yawd Serk is currently the chair of the CSSU.
