Foreign Investors Welcomed by New ULU/AA Administration in Rakhine State

On March 25, the United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) declared its appreciation and willingness to embrace any foreign investments that would contribute to the benefit and development of Rakhine State.

AA is striving to resume operations smoothly in administration, development, security, health, and socioeconomic sectors within the towns and villages it has already captured in Rakhine State.

AA has announced its enthusiastic embrace of investments that promise mutual benefits for both the people of Rakhine State and investors, emphasizing its commitment to protecting and ensuring the security of all those who choose to invest in this manner.

AA also called upon businesses and projects intending to invest in Rakhine State to collaborate with it to facilitate smooth operations.

AA assured that it will prioritize the maintenance and safeguarding of stability in Rakhine State in a systematic manner, while simultaneously striving to advance the interests and development of both the local populace and the entire region.

As of now, AA has successfully taken control of Rathedaung, Pauktaw, Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minbya, Myebon, and Ramree townships in Rakhine State, along with Paletwa Township in Chin State.

BNI reported yesterday that while the Junta’s military still controls Sittwe, the Rakhine capital, most of their administrative staff have and local government machinery has collapsed.

Although potential investors are likely to wait until Sittwe is captured, and then wait for peace and stability to be established under the new ULU/AA administration, it looks  unlikely any future investment will be conducted under the auspices of the Military Council.

It is probable that China’s major interests in the deep-sea port of Kyauk Phyu and its SEZ (Special Economic Zone) in Rakhine State still under junta control will gain strong assurance from ULU/AA that their assets will be protected,.
