For almost three years following the coup, the Military Council has killed more than 200 civilian lives in Chin State and detained over 1,000 individuals of Chin ethnicity on various charges, according to the Institute of Chin Affairs (ICA).
Salai Van Sui San, the deputy director of ICA, reported that from the day of the coup
until October 1st of this year, a total of 217 Chin civilians, comprising 38 women and 179 men, lost their lives in Chin State due to unjust killings, airstrikes, shelling, landmines, and combat operations conducted by the Military Council troops.
He added that the current count of war-displaced individuals in Chin State has risen to almost 100,000, with a notable increase in numbers this year. ICA's estimates indicate that there are over 60,000 Chin war refugees residing in India's Mizoram State, more than
1,000 in Delhi and other regions, and between 80000 to 100000 in Malaysia.
In addition, the Military Council troops set fire to over 2,100 homes and other structures in Chin State and carried out at least 63 airstrikes.
"It can be confirmed through multiple sources that these events are indeed happening in Myanmar. So how can the international community apply pressure and take effective action? We can only report on incidents. The international community should not merely observe, but consider effective measures in response”, he told Khonumthung News.

The statement from ICA, issued on October 10th, disclosed that among the deceased, there were 24 minors, comprising 20 boys and 4 girls.
ICA report additionally unveiled that the Military Council, during its operations in Chin State, had apprehended no fewer than 134 civilians to employ as guides, hostages, and human shields.
ICA further claimed that six Chin women had been subjected to gang rape and subsequently killed by the Military Council soldiers.
Over a span of nearly three years, the Military Council has detained over 1,000 Chin individuals on a range of charges. As per the statement, more than 500 remain incarcerated, and tragically, two Chin people have lost their lives while in prison, ICA’s report stated.
"Many of the over 1,000 arrested have been released, with some being granted bail. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances of those who were sentenced. The Military Council has recently increased such arrests, making it challenging to provide precise information about the outcomes of these arbitrary detentions”, Salai Van Sui San said.
