Tatmadaw troops clashed with Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/A) in Muse District, located in northern Shan State, this Thursday (September 24).
Locals told KNG that Burma Army soldiers from LID-88 attacked KIO/A Battalion-36, located on Howa Bum hill, with artillery for hours.
Since September 10, Tatmadaw battalions LID-88 and LID-99 have been conducting clearance operations to drive KIO/A Battalion-36, from Kyukok (Panghsai) sub-township, which is controlled by KIO/A Brigade-6.
About 300 civilians from Man Kawng village were displaced by the fighting. The village headman told KNG they sought refuge in Man Pying village.
The Burma Army’s offensives contradict a decision to extend its unilateral ceasefire across the country until September 30, except in Rakhine State where it’s fighting with the Arakan Army.
