The Mon National Day Organizing Committee (Central) has requested a budget from the Mon State government to fund the 71st Mon National Day ceremony, which will be held on February 1.
“We haven’t received the confirmation yet. Nai Kyi Win told us that we can get around 30 million kyats from the Mon State government. We plan to distribute two million kyats to each township to hold the ceremonies,” said Nai Chit Oo, chairman of the Mon National Day Organizing Committee (Central).
He said the organizing committee has submitted the request for over 70 million kyats budget to the state chief minister on January 10.
“Thirty million kyats is not only for the central ceremony. It also covers township-level ceremonies. But, we haven’t made a decision yet,” said Dr Min Kyi Win, the Mon State Minister of Environment and Natural Resources.
The Kayin State’s Mon Affairs Minister U Min Tin Win said around 30 million kyats budget has been requested from the Kayin State government to hold the Mon National Day ceremony in the Kayin State.
