Army chief-of-staff Lieutenant-General Mya Tun Oo was appointed chief of military security in a reshuffle of senior Tatmadaw officers on September 8, military sources told Mizzima.

Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo, who is widely believed to be in line to succeed Senior General Min Aung Hlaing as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, will also take command of the Bureau of Special Operations-6, the sources said.

Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo replaces as chief of military security Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe, who has been appointed Army chief-of-staff and head of the Bureau of Special Operations-5.
 
The commander of Yangon Command, Major-General Sann Oo has been promoted to Lieutenant-General and appointed Adjutant-General, replacing Lt-Gen Khin Zaw Oo, who will take command of the Bureau of Special Operations-4.

The commander of Northern Command, Maj-Gen Tun Tun Naung, replaces Maj-Gen Sann Oo as Yangon Command commander.
