U Thar Naing, the Chairperson of the Yangon Air Bus Association told Mizzima on August 28 that the Transnational bus line between Myeik Township in Tanintharyi Division to Imphal in Manipur, India will take-off before the SEA Games.
The Transnational bus line, to be operated by the Yangon Air Bus Association, will be launched on November 10. It will be the first ever international bus line from Myanmar, said U Thar Aung.
“We met and had a discussion with the Myanmar-India Friendship Association on August 27. We aim to promote goodwill between the two countries with the Transnational bus line rather than just provide transportation”, said U Thar Naing.
The bus line will take-off with 4 mini buses that has the capacity of 36 passengers each. The bus service will operate 4 times a week and the trip will take 3 days and 2 nights. The bus fare for a one way trip will be MMK 60000 (USD 63).
“We discussed ways to help each other with the Indian Embassy and promote friendship between the two countries. Our concern here is not business”, U Thar Naing told Mizzima.
He said that the Transnational bus line between India and Myanmar will connect the two countries through both land and sea routes. Moreover, it will strengthen cultural ties that the two countries share. Therefore, the Yangon Air Bus Association intends to ease the transportation for tourists from both countries at the lowest possible cost.
He also mentioned that the Transnational Permits and acquiring Visas was also getting easier as well. The route will cover a distance of 500 miles.
The Trans Asia Road that is being planned for completion in 2018, will connect Manipur in India to Ta Muu- Kalay- Monywa- Mandalay- Naypyidaw- Yangon- Mawlamyaing- Dawei- Myeik- Maung Taw -Parachek- to Mae Sot in Thailand and pass through Tanintharyi Division in Southern Myanmar and Sagaing Division.
