The Burmese military junta has dispatched fresh batch of military intelligence personnel along the Burmese border security force’s (Nasaka) section area of the Burma-Bangladesh border area on April 5, according to a Nasaka aide from Maungdaw.

Three intelligence personnel have been posted in the camp of the Nasaka along the Burma-Bangladesh border, the aide said.

“Earlier, we had one military intelligence personnel in one Nasaka camp, but, now there are three - one sergeant, one sub corporal and a private,” said a Nasaka official from Maungdaw.

“The intelligence men will watch the area where they are stationed and monitor people’s activities with an eye to the forthcoming election,” the officer added.

“Before we had one military intelligence personnel, now we have three for harassing, extortion and torture,” said an elder from Taungbru sub town of Maungdaw.

“There will be more face offs between Nasaka and intelligence men as they will try to amass easy money from us,” said an illegal cross border business man.
