The Burma’s army have been sending hundreds of their troops to a remote region along the border with India since early December. Locals are growing concerned that the arrival of military reinforcements is a sign that heavy fighting with the Kachin Independence Army’s (KIA) Brigade-2 and Burma army will start soon.

One person told the KNG that more than 300 troops from Light Infantry Division No. 55 have arrived in Danai. Many of the soldiers wearing civilian clothing were being escorted to Danai by the Light Infantry Division-88.

They appear to be moving to army positions at Nam Yun and Pangsau, near the Indian border, and another military post close to the KIO’s Representative Office of Kachin Affair India (ROKA-I). Since the Kachin conflict erupted last year fighting was for the most part occurred near the border with China.
