Thuta Linn — Newly elected members of the Parliament from the National League for Democracy (NLD) led a trash pickup program in many areas of Kachin State including its capital Myitkyina on Saturday December 12, according to the Kachin State Election Campaign Team.
The NLD issued an order last Monday for its MPs to lead the trash cleanup activity across the country as part of what the party calls an “Environmental Beautification” project.
According to this announcement, NLD MPs would cooperate with their respective Township Development Committees when picking up the trash on a nationwide scale on December 13th.
NLD MPs from Kachin State started the activity a day ahead, but their respective township campaign teams have been organizing the activity for them as the MPs were in Nay Pyi Taw to meet with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on December 5th.
The recently elected MP for Hpakant's Lower House seat, U Tin Soe, said that the party members from Hpakant Township have already negotiated with their respective Township Election Campaign Committee and he and his party members will lead the trash cleanup activity on December 12.
The incoming State Parliament MP for Myitkyina Constituency No 1, Dr Khet Aung, says that the NLD will carry out the trash cleanup activity in many areas including Myitkyina and all MPs must carry this out.
