San Maung Than — Representatives from the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) have agreed to take down signboards posted in Arakan state that contained a party slogan “Union Solidarity and Development Party of the Entire Arakan People” .  The signboards which were erected in Arakan State's Minbya Township will be removed says the Arakan National Party (ANP)’s information officer U Thein Zan.  The signs will be replaced with signs that contain the party's name instead.

The ANP had filed a formal complain about the issue with the Mrauk U District Election Commission claiming they were inappropriate and asked that the commission had them removed.

“The Township Commission called a meeting with USDP leaders and leaders of seven other parties on October 4th and negotiated with them. The USDP leader agreed to remove it by October 10th,” Thein Zan told the Narinjara News.

Mrauk U District Election Commission officials instructed the Minbya Township Commission to call the meeting.  The meeting was attended by U Aung Saw Than, Secretary of the USDP’s Minbya Township branch.

“We have a negotiation team for election affairs. People from various parties are on this team. This team called a meeting on October 4th and the parties negotiated among
themselves and agreed to amend the wording.  The commission didn’t tell the party to take it down,” Minbya Township Election Commission’s chairman U Tun Thar Aung told Narinjara News.
