Thein Sein Administration’s Peace Principles (Unofficial translation)
State level
- Bilateral ceasefire
- To reside in areas designated and agreed by both sides
- Non-movement with arms outside designated areas
- To set up liaison offices at suitable locations (without arms) agreed upon by both sides
- To form an official delegation to negotiate with the Union Level Peace Negotiation Team and agree upon date, time and venue for the negotiation
Union level
- Not to secede from the Union at any time
- To agree with the principles: Non-disintegration of the Union, Non-disintegration of National Solidarity and Perpetuation of the National Sovereignty
- Cooperation in economic and development programmes in accordance with law
- Cooperation against drugs
- To set up parties and enter elections
- To amend the constitution within the Parliament in accordance with the consent of the majority
- To enter the legal fold for good in order to establish lasting peace and to reside, move, work and live in accordance with the constitution
- To agree upon transformation into a single military organization in accordance with the constitution
