On 19th June 2011, Aung San Suu Kyi will celebrate her 66th birthday. We are asking our supporters to hold a fundraising dinner in her honour. Please show your support for Burma’s democracy leader by holding a dinner on or around her birthday on 19th June.

Aung San Suu Kyi is now free after spending more than 15 years in detention. As part of a global campaign, we helped free Aung San Suu Kyi but there are still more than 2,000 political prisoners in Burma. Prisoners like NLD member Ko Min Aung, who has been imprisoned just for calling for human rights and democracy in Burma. He is being held in a prison hundreds of miles from his family and has been denied urgent medical care for the past 11 months, despite suffering from heart disease.

Without urgent action, Burma’s brave political prisoners face spending the rest of their lives in prison. We can’t let that happen.

Holding a birthday dinner can help to inform your guests about the situation in Burma and to raise much needed funds to support Burma Campaign UK to help us to work for democracy and freedom for the people of Burma.
