The Thai police have busted an organised gang into a sex racket. Four Burmese nationals, accused of detaining Burmese women and forcing them to be sex workers, were arrested in Mahar Chai area, said Nai Pannya Pinzau in-charge of police regional 3.
The gang members are U Myint (27 year), U Myo (33), Nai San Saw (24) and U Inn Soe (24). There were arrested near Thai Union company, Tamboon 7, Htarsa Township, Samut Sakhun district on October 2.
Nai Pannya Pinzau in-charge of Police (Regional 3) said that they arrested the gang when Rat Thai Foundation informed the police of the gang's activities. U Myint and his gang members detained girls and raped them. Later they forced them to be sex workers. The police rescued two girls, who were being detained by the gang, he added.
The two rescued are Ma Aye (age 14) and Ma Be (27). According to the victims, U Myint and his gang members brought them from Kawthaung by promising them jobs at a prawn factory on a salary of 200 Bhat per day. They had an agreement with the gang to give back 13,000 Bhat when they get a job. It was a lie. When they arrived at Mahar Chai, they were detained at a place. The gang persuaded them to become prostitutes in various ways.
According to the Thai police and victims, the gang brought Burmese women by lying to them and providing transportation cost in advance. After which they sold the Burmese women to the sex industry. The human trafficking gang's network operated on the Thai-Burma border area, Thailand and especially, inside Burma.
