According to sources close tothe State Administrative Military Council, nine individuals who are members of the Rohingya community, were arrested at a rubber farm near Win Sein Village, HtinShu Village, ThanPhyuZayat Township, Mon State, on the morning of
March 24.
"They were at a rubber farm near Win Sein village, when soldiers, policemen and relevant village Administration groups went to search for them. They found 2 men and 7 women, all are 20 years of age," said a source close to the Military Council.
The reason for the arrests is not known.
In January, at the Mayanchaung checkpoint in Kyaikhto township, 6 Rohingya community members were arrested, and in February 40 Rohingya including children were arrested in Danetaw between Weakali village and Kamaroke village in Mudon township.
In 2022, more than 230 Rohingya were arrested in ThanPhyuZayat Township, Ye Township, Mudon Township, and Mawlamyine Township. It was alleged that all came through Thailand through brokers and were enroute to Malaysia.
Since the military coup, Rohingya persons have been frequently arrested across the country. Some have even been killed on site, with no consequences for their captors
