At around 8:00 PM on December 19th, a 50-strong Military Council and Pyu Saw Htee members raided Zee Pin Thar village while firing small arms and murdered a child for no reason, locals said.
A grade-6 student was shot dead by the Military Council and Pyu-Saw-Htee militia in Zee Pin Thar village in Htan Kone Tite the rural area of Kanbalu township in Sagaing division.
“They entered the village around 8:00 PM, shooting their guns. Then they shot a grade-6 student. I didn’t see the details of the incident, but I can confirm that they killed the boy”, a villager told KNG. The grade-6 student shot dead by Military Council troops was 13-year-old Maung Thuta Zaw from Zee Pin Thar village.
The villager added that not only a child was shot dead but also at least 3 houses were burned down in the village He pointed out ,“Our Zee Pin Thar village did not join the revolutionary movement. We are all living peacefully. There was no fighting around the village before. But this incident highlighted that their bigotry made them see the public as their enemies. Furthermore they even burned and destroyed everything they saw”.
Zee Pin Thar village where the incident took place is located about a mile away from Htan Kone village where Military Council and Pyu-Saw-Htee members are stationed, and about 12 miles south of Kanbalu township.
