KIA Landmine Injuries Burma Army In Hpakant

The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) wounded two Burma Army (BA) soldiers after they stepped on a concealed landmine planted near Nawng Mee on Lido Road in Hpakant Township.

The BA soldiers  that are part of  60-strong column of its Infantry Battalion 298 were on their way from Don Ban to Nawng Mee when they detonated one of the hidden explosive devices at around 5pm on 11 August, a source told KNG, asking that their name not be published.

An ambulance took away the wounded soldiers, whose column is housed at the Warazup People’s Militia Force (PMF) camp which is near Nawng Mee. According to another anonymous source from Warazup, the soldiers will soon leave for Jahtu Zup in three military trucks.

The KIA failed to capture the PMF’s camp in San Pya and lost one soldier in the attack on 11 August, while another was wounded.
