Two Burmese arrested with 11 grams of heroin in Mizoram

Two Burmese nationals were detained with 11 grams of heroin by members of the sub-headquarters of the Young Mizo Association’s anti drug squad and Excise & Narcotic Department on 31 May in Tlang Sam village. The current black market price of the drugs seized is Rs. 55000.

The arrested were identified as Kamthanga (25) son of Mr Thang Zachin and Jerome Punmanga from Bukphir village, Tedim Township, Chin state in Burma. They were sent to Mizoram central jail the same day.

A Mizoram local newspaper reported that the Anti Drugs Squad and Excise & Narcotic Department were tipped off. Another person suspected to be involved, escaped.

Dr. Tint Swe, MP of the National League for Democracy (Burma) and member of the National Coalition Government of the union of Burma has apologized to the Mizoram government a northeast state of India and its people for the alleged involvement in crimes by a section of Burmese people residing in the state.
