Fighting in Myebon Township results in casualties, Tatmadaw says

Nay Win San — The Tatmadaw and Arakan Army (AA) fought on 30 November near Sanyin, Hinkhayaw and Tote Chaung villages in Myebon Township.

The fighting broke out 1.2 kilometer south of Sanyin village at 8:23 a.m., one kilometer north of Hinkhayaw at 8:45 a.m. and north east of Tote Chaung village at 12:43 p.m., the AA said.

The Tatmadaw used civilian’s vehicles in the fighting near Hinkhayaw village and killed 12 military personnel and seized some weapons, the AA announced.

Colonel Win Zaw Oo, head of the Western Command, said that fighting in Myebon Township broke out yesterday and there were reports of casualties.

“A battle near Hinkhayaw village yesterday was fierce. It started about 10 a.m. and finished at about 4 p.m. What I can say is there were reports of casualties,” Colonel Win Zaw Oo said.

The AA said that the Tatmadaw’s two helicopters came and launched rockets and fired machine guns during the battle.

Local residents near the clash were hiding in safe places during the fighting, local sources said.

The Tatmadaw and the AA has also fought near Mon Htauk village in Paletwa Township, Chin State, on 30 November, the Tatmadaw has suffered high casualties, the AA announced.
