Yangon based All Chin Society (ACSY) has been launching to establish a huge building for Chin tribal communities at the corner of the Anawrahtar Road and the Konbaung street in East Dagon Township, Yangon.
The building will be comprised of hostel rooms, museum, main meeting hall and office rooms for respective Chin ethnic communities. All Chin Society (ACSY) has been set up in combination of 19 Chin tribal social associations in order to perform Chin people’s social development, according to U Peter Cueng, chairman of the ACSY.
Currently, ACSY has been carrying out to obtain permission for building, fencing the compound, replenish the ground, digging for underground water and connecting electricity etc. and using up to two billion kyats, as said by chairman of the ACSY.
“We’ve to look for place every year to hold the Chin National Day. It’s too difficult to convene Chin National Day hiring other owners’ accommodations. Now, we’ve possessed 4 acres of land and we will build a huge hall-type accommodation for 10 to 20 thousand to hold the Chin National Day annually. When our Chin relatives visited Yangon due to emergency health reasons, they need hostels for staying in Yangon. So, we’ll build hostel rooms for Chin people who visit Yangon for medical treatment. Poor Chin people from hilly or plane region can take temporary stay while they’re in Yangon. It may be helpful for poor Chin people who faced difficulty to get accommodation here. So, we build the construction in order to help Chin people’s difficulties for temporary staying in Yangon, ” U Peter Cueng, chairman of the ACSY told Khonumthung News.
To get expenditure for the Chin communities’ building, various Chin communities will offer cash donation. The ACSY has arranged finishing the building urgently and there is a permit for a two-story RC office construction 23’X40’ to build on the land owned by the ACSY. In addition, 19 Chin social development associations will support the expenditure of the construction by their respective funding.
The six-story RC buildings are also planning to be set up for Chin people who would have to travel to Yangon by reason of various causes – healthcare, religious affairs and educational matters.
The construction of Chin Community lodgings, where people can organize meetings and festivals, would be advantageous for unity of Chin people, as said by U Peter Cueng.
