World Bank to provide US$ 100 million for pregnant women, children in Shan State

The World Bank will provide US$100 million to pregnant women and children under the age of two in the Shan State, according to the Shan State Department of Social Welfare’s director U Tun Oo.

The Shan State government and the World Bank will cooperate in implementing the project in early 2019.

Ks 15,000 will be provided to each pregnant woman and child under the age of two for nutritional development of pregnant women and children in the Shan State.

The Shan State Department of Social Welfare, the Department of General Administration, the Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association, the Department of Health, and ward and village administrators will cooperate in carrying out this program.

A workshop was held at the Royal Taunggyi Hotel in the Shan State’s capital Taunggyi on June 20 discuss about providing financial support to pregnant women and children under the age of two.
