Ten ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) that have already signed the nationwide ceasefire agreement (NCA) will meet on the Thai border in the fourth week of February.

“We are planning to meet, but we can’t say when and where the meeting will be held. [The meeting] will be held to discuss future cooperation and the situations on national-level political dialogues, concepts, and frameworks in future politics and military affairs,” said Col Sai Ngan, secretary-3 of the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS-SSA-S).

According to unconfirmed report, the meeting will be held at the Thai border on February 18-19.

This will be the first meeting of the ten EAOs after the New Mon State Party (NMSP) and the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) signed the NCA in Naypyidaw on February 13.

After the two EAOs signed the NCA, only the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) and the Arakan National Council (ANC) remain in the United Nationalities Federal Council (UNFC).

Eight EAOs signed the NCA with former U Thein Sein administration on October 15, 2015. The Karen National Union (KNU), the Karen National Liberation Army – Peace Council (KNLA-PC), the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), the RCSS/SSA-S, the All Burma Student’s Democratic Front (ABSDF), the Chin National Front (CNF), and the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO) have signed the NCA.
