Just over 12 percent of students in Chin State due to sit matriculation exams failed to turn up, the highest absentee rate of any state or region in Burma.
According to government statistics there were 23 exam centres in Chin State at which 11,188 students were due to take matriculation exams but only 9, 843 students turned up, meaning that 1,345 students, or 12.02 percent of the students failed to turn up.
Last year (2015) out of 9,639 students who sat the matriculation exam in Chin State 1,720 passed, a pass rate of 17.84 percent, more than double 2014’s pass rate of 8.07 percent.
