Chittagong, Bangladesh: Bangladeshi naval warships are on high alert in the Bay of Bengal since November 1, according to a naval officer of the Chittagong Naval Force.

Burma had deployed four ships for exploring oil and gas in Bangladesh's waters on November 1, accompanied by two naval worships, ignoring the warning of the Bangladesh Navy. It is due to this development that Bangladeshi naval warships are on red alert in the Bay of Bengal.

Three Bangladeshi naval ships went to the spot challenging the Burmese ships, but the Burmese Navy responded by alleging that the Bangladeshi Naval ships were intruding.

Bangladesh is planning to ask the South Korean Company not to conduct the exploration work in the disputed area, sources said.
