Man Fatally Shot in Theinzayat Township

A 40-year-old man from Wardatkwin village, Theinzayat Township, Mon State, was abducted and fatally shot by an unidentified armed group, according to local residents.

The victim, identified as U Chit Ko, was taken from his home around 10 p.m. on November 19. His body was discovered the following morning in a rubber plantation near the outskirts of Wardatkwin village.

“A gunshot wound to the head was found on U Chit Ko’s body, which was discovered in a rubber plantation near the edge of the village,” said a local resident.

U Chit Ko, who ran a motorcycle repair shop in the village, was well-known in the area. The motive behind his killing remains unclear.

No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction and killing, but a military junta supporter Telegram channel alleged that the Kyaikto Revolution Force (KRF), a local resistance group, carried out the attack. The KRF has yet to issue a statement addressing the accusation.

This incident follows a similar killing on November 7 in Kyauktan village, Thaton Township, where U Soe Hlaing was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.

Kyaikto Township has seen frequent incidents of abductions and killings attributed to various armed groups. The resistance groups often target individuals affiliated with or suspected of supporting the military junta. However, killings carried out by unidentified groups remain common in the region, according to the locals.
