Buildings Collapsed After Junta Bombs Hospital in Myebon Township

A female assistant nurse sustained serious injuries as the Junta conducted an airstrike on the Kan Htaung Gyi town hospital in Myebon Township, Rakhine State.

On March 24, the hospital in Kan Htaung Gyi town was bombed at 4.00am by a jet fighter. A Kan Htaung Gyi villager said, “During the airstrike, the jet fighter flew over twice while dropping around five or six bombs on the hospital. The assistant nurse was injured badly all over, especially her head. We are not sure if she will make it. Thankfully the patients in the hospital were unharmed”,.

Due to the bombardment, the hospital's buildings including the men's ward, women's ward, and the delivery room have all collapsed.

"The hospital, which had 25 beds, was completely destroyed, with all its buildings collapsing. The plane kept hovering until about 10:00 AM”, the villager added.

Locals reported that the injured woman was Daw Wah Wah, aged over 40, who had come to work at the hospital from Karen State.

Kan Htaung Gyi town has over 3000 households. Locals also stated that the Junta had increased airstrikes in Rakhine State ahead of Armed Forces Day on March 27.
