Two villagers were wounded during fighting between Chin National Army (CNA) and Zomi Revolution Army (ZRA) along the Indian border in northern Chin State, a local source said, asking not to be named.

CNA began fighting with ZRA in Gawsing, Tedim Township, on 18 December after the Zomi Border Guard Force (BGF) repelled an attack on a Burma Army camp (BA), another resident, who requested anonymity, told Khonumthung News. Residents have fled the village, which is about 30 miles from Tedim town.

Khonumthung News could not reach the CNA or its political wing, the Chin National Front, to confirm information about the violence with the ZRA over the weekend.

Locals have accused the Zomi group of also attacking a local chapter of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) in the township that’s fighting against the regime. They say the ZRA raided the PDF’s camp on 22 May and another camp on 16 June, destroying food rations and medicines.

According to the PDF’s Zoland branch, the June attack caused them 6 million kyat ($3,400) worth of damage. And the civilian resistance group accused the BGF of killing its leader Cin Sheng Suam on 5 December.

In September, the BGF also attacked the Chinland Defence Force’s Hualngo camp in Thangtlang Township. The Chinland Join Defence Force has condemned the ZRA’s attacks on Chin resistance groups in the township, vowing to retaliate.

The ZRA was formed in 1993 and signed a ceasefire agreement with the Indian government in 2005. After being converted into a BGF, it is has been based in India’s Manipur State.
