Yangon International Airport was further extended the ban on international flight arrivals to May 15, said an announcement issued by the Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited (YACL), according to a report by Xinhua.
The official announcement said the move was a temporary measure to prevent importing of the COVID-19 virus through air travel to Myanmar.
The landing of all international commercial passenger flights at the airport had been suspended from March 30 to April 13 and the effective period was later extended to April 30, according to the report.
The move mirrors the extension of the virus “lockdown” as announced by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi for a further 15 days beyond April 30.
