Since the invading Junta forces compelled the entire populations of Taingen, Theizang, and Heinzein villages along the Kale-Tedim Road in Chin State to flee, residents have been gradually returning to their homes, starting from January 23rd, as the troops have already withdrawn.
On January 16th, joint resistance forces from the Chin ethnic group attacked and seized a Military Council outpost in Taingen village. On January 17th, approximately 60 Junta troops entered the area to reclaim the outpost, prompting the evacuation of residents from the local villages.
The troops were stationed between Taingen and Theizang villages for several days before departing on January 20th. A resident from Theizang mentioned that, once the safety was confirmed, locals returned to their homes.
"Almost all the villagers have returned to their villages. A few have not yet returned, but everyone will be able to return home soon”, he said.
Troops from the Military Council, who came from Kale Township, briefly held a Taingen villager and three residents from Khaikam as hostages during their presence in the area. However all were released on January 21st, a source close to the matter confirmed.
The Chinaland Defense Force-Siyin (CDF-Siyin) has declared the reopening of the Kale-Tedmi Road, closed for two months, with reports of people observed traveling on the road once more.
Following the successful capture of the Taingen military outpost, CDF-Siyin and joint forces have affirmed their plans to seize the Military Council’s police station at Khaikam 9-Mile. CDF-Siyin has called on residents in the vicinity of the police station to evacuate to safety in advance and urged the police to defect beforehand.
