According to local residents, two individuals riding a motorcycle were shot on the roadside near the town of Hpakant in Kachin State.
On March 10, at 10:30 p.m., a resident of Hpakant reported to KNG that the two men on the motorcycle were shot by an unidentified armed group as they were traveling from Maw Maung Hlyan to Hpakant.
"I think the soldiers shot them. Because there is a night patrol group going in and out of Hpakant town nearby. I think they shot them because they didn't stop the motorcycle when they met the night patrol," he said.
Local residents have claimed that the two men were allegedly shot and killed by members of the military council forces, but the KNG news agency has not been able to independently confirm this information. Additionally, the identities of the two men remain unknown at this time.
According to local residents, the bodies of the two men who were shot were found on the side of the road between Maw Maung Hlyan and Hpakant.
Likewise, last night, troops from the Military Council reportedly fired at least five artillery shells indiscriminately from the Hpakant tactical command center towards the outskirts of Hpakant.
In Hpakant, civilians are reportedly being frequently shot and killed by Military Council troops without any apparent reason. Moreover, individuals such as administrators, dalan (informants), and pyu saw htee militias who cooperate with the Military Council have also been shot, and more than 50 people have already been shot.
