On January 24th, the Three Brotherhood Alliance, of which the Arakan Army (AA) is a part, revealed that AA had successfully taken complete control of Pauktaw Township in Rakhine State on the 90th day of 'Operation 1027'.
The announcement declared, "The Arakan Army (AA) has secured complete control of Pauktaw Township in Rakhine State”.
“at the same time fierce clashes are on-going between Junta soldiers who refuse to surrender, and AA fighters in Mrauk-U, Minbya, Kyauktaw, and Rathedaung townships. Our efforts are focused on capturing the Junta's division headquarters and bases one by one ”, the statement added.
It was further noted in the statement that the conflicts in Ramree (Yanbye) Township maintained a consistent intensity similar to previous days, and the Junta's airstrikes persisted at the same level as before.
As per the announcement, on January 24th alone the coup Regime carried out at least 33 airstrikes, utilizing both jet fighters and helicopters, targeting urban and outskirt neighborhoods of Ramree Township and the surrounding areas, marking the highest number of airstrikes recorded in a single day.
Due to these attacks, numerous houses, buildings, and a bridge over the creek were hit and suffered damage. Artillery shells from the Junta forces also resulted in the burning of more than six shops in the Ramawadi Market, located behind the Ramree Township main police station, the statement said.
On the 90th day of 'Operation 1027', although there were no significant clashes or skirmishes in northern Shan State, the conflicts in Rakhine State continued to escalate.
In AA's other operational areas including Sagaing Region and diverse locations, self-defense battles are concurrently unfolding in collaboration with other allied resistance forces.
In the intense fighting in Rakhine State, the Junta forces continue indiscriminate artillery shelling, resulting in damage to residential areas and civilian casualties, mirroring the situation in previous days.
